Meet Nina | Postpartum Doula, Professional Nanny, Multiples Specialist

Legacy is not usually a word you hear associated with doula work, as our postpartum doula profession is still fairly new in the modern definition, however it’s ages old as a ‘baby nurse’ or ‘night nanny’. We are overjoyed that Nina was the first doula to join our team as the daughter of a Postpartum Doula. The apple didn’t fall far from the nurturing tree of her mother Maria, a postpartum doula and daycare provider. Nina decided to care for families as well, and has been working as a professional nanny for the past decade. What a joy to have someone not only with professional experience and extensive care under her belt, but someone for whom the model of a doula was lived out before her young eyes.

Nina is an experienced nanny who has worked extensively with multiples and loves to support families as they begin. Her heart for a ‘strong start’ led her to doula work where she can serve families as they rest, heal, connect and begin their lives with their new babies. She especially enjoys serving families with twins, and has supported several sets as a nanny longer term, helping cement this love in her life of multiple babies.

In the past 10 years of nanny life, Nina has loved watching little ones grow and discover, and enjoys the partnership of working alongside parents as they nurture their little ones. Nina loves newborns and has worked with both newborns and toddlers extensively in the Portland area.

As someone who loves to care for and support the people around her, Nina is sensitive to anticipating needs before a request needs to be made, is practiced at listening to others and helping with small things that make a big difference, and skilled at multitasking with both infants and toddlers (something many of our clients are juggling).

One of Nina’s strongest skill sets is an ability to be patient and calm even in stressful situations. She values good communication as it brings clarity to helps to make trusting relationships. Watching her mom work with fragile new mothers and babies gave her a model of love in action that Nina loves to be able to share.

Nina has carved out 3 nights a week for overnight support for ABC Doula clients, as well as some daytime care. While she works her magic with multiples, she also loves supporting families welcoming one baby, and also those adding to a family where she gets to use her extensive tool set of toddler and bigger kiddo tricks. Reach out if this lovely and kind doula might be the perfect fit for your needs.

When not serving families, you will find Nina curled up with a favorite book, taking aerial silks classes (her new adventure!) or exploring the beauty of her hometown and surrounding area near Portland.
