Meet Suzanne | RN BSN, Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist

Suzanne brings years of experience as a high risk labor and delivery nurse and childbirth educator, as well as a Newborn Care Specialist and Sleep Coach. Her wealth of knowledge about babies and sleep patterns makes her a favorite not only for our ABC clients here in Portland, but on travel jobs all around the US.

Suzanne got her start as a graduate of Northwest Nannies Institute and was a professional nanny before she became a labor and delivery nurse. Now that her youngest child has recently graduated high school, Suzanne has the ability to both travel for live-in jobs as well as offering longer shifts than 8 hour overnights. She can do 24/7 jobs for families who need round the clock care, or travel with families on overnight trips or extended travel (even abroad).

Trained originally as a doula with DONA and more recently with CAPPA for a refresher, Suzanne has worked with ABC Doula during several seasons over the past decade, and we love both her confidence and wit, and how she blends those while being a constant support to each family’s parenting choices.

She offers overnight care, and specializes in serving clients with preemies, multiples, babies with sleep issues, and moms with postpartum mood disorders. She is a past president of Baby Blues Connection (a local support organization for moms with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders) and has a special heart for those struggling with the effects of lack of sleep and self care associated with new baby life.

Families bringing home a second or third baby rave about her lifesaving help and support during the transition of adding a new family member. Clients tell me they were able to form wonderful memories and enjoy their early parenting experience because of her attentive care, instead of just “barely surviving” those early weeks.
