Meet Christy | Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula and Newborn Care Specialist, Multiples Specialist

After raising 4 kids into adulthood, Christy found herself with not only extra time, but extra love and nurturing to give, and decided a few years ago that being a doula would be the perfect fit! As a life long lover of babies, Christy brings her comforting touch to all aspects of her doula support, and families are so reassured to have her experience, training, and especially her TLC.

Christy has extensive experience with babies and little ones, running an in home daycare for a decade, and also working at a shelter for pregnant and parenting teens. She loves to be a part of the community she was raised in just outside of Vancouver, WA, and also giving back to her community as a volunteer in several arenas.

With 25 years worth of caring for new babies, Christy is skilled and experienced in working with multiples, premature infants, fussy babies (especially those with reflux), and helping to support sleep habits for the long term. She is particularly gentle and supportive of those working through postpartum mood disorders like depression and anxiety, and loves to support breastfeeding, exclusive pumping, and formula feeding families.

Christy is also at home in the kitchen, specializing in some of the meals postpartum clients remember from their childhood, especially chicken and dumplings, beef stew, mac and cheese and lasagna. When doing overnight work she can also whip up a hearty breakfast of french toast or overnight oats, and makes a mean pancake, bacon and egg breakfast. She brings all the comfort foods as she knows the value of food prepared with love.

Christy decided to focus on overnight support after seeing how much families needed the rest and recovery after birth, and how little support they had in place. She loves to come in and bring peace and calming to a new family with twins, chat with the parents before they settle in for the night, helping them be at peace knowing she is making a nest with the babies, attentive to their every move and squeak. She loves the longer shifts when she can stay into the morning and make breakfast, get the day set up for success, and allow parents to shower, eat, and start their day with her tips from the night before. And she loves to answer the million questions that new parents have about feeding, sleep, and the adjustment to new parent life.

Although she is not a grandma yet, Christy brings that nurturing energy that you might expect from a wise woman who knows both how to care for babies and knows they are a unit with the parents. She know when mama is happy, everyone is happy. We are so lucky to have her with us at ABC Doula, and especially love that she can offer families up to 5 nights a week, providing that trusted care consistently while getting to know a family so intimately in the early days and weeks.

Married to her high school sweetheart for 34 years, Christy and her husband love camping, traveling through the great outdoors, attending sporting events, and getting to visit their grown kiddos.

If you are thinking this is the type of nurturing energy you want in your postpartum care, you are probably right. She books up early though, so plan ahead.
